Happy Halloween!

For those of you occasionally checking in here: I’m back  in Second Life playing music (and in real life also!) I had a fabulous show at Pumpkin Village today and I will be at Le Cercle Des Voyageurs this Friday, 10/28/11  at 2 PM SLT.

I have a new blog.  It’s a lot darker, more personal and more honest about who I really am.  While I hope to resume playing music in Second Life at some point this year, I’ve been looking for an artist identity that feels real.  I’m toying with the name, Phases Like The Moon.  Here’s the blog.  Hope to see you on the other side.

Traveling in Winter

I’ve temporarily shutdown Demo’s Wonderland and am putting all my time and energy towards finishing my  forthcoming EP, Empty Orchestra.  I’m  hoping for an April release date and you can be sure you’ll hear about it when it’s ready.  In the meantime,  I’ll be posting  my song lyrics and pictures (some Second Life pics, some real life).  Hope you keep checking back for updates.

The Naughty and Nice Holiday Show

This Sunday, December 19th, Demo’s Wonderland celebrates the holiday season in style with four hours of live music.  The Naughty and Nice Holiday show has a little something for everyone.  The day kicks off with Krakov Letov, playing a set of chillaxing ambient electronica at 11 am SLT.  Demolicious Wonder takes the stage at noon kicking out an hour of new wave inspired synth-pop.  At 1 pm SLT, The Rails stream live from Canada with  indie-pop originals that will get your avatar dancing.   EvaMoon Ember takes over at 2 pm SLT to bring some rollicking raunch and good cheer.

Well someone is going to be on Santa’s Naughty List . . .

Eva Moon makes the mind reel and sends most decent folk scrambling for a dictionary to find out just how kinky her latest song, The Elements of Kink, really is.   Or perhaps she’s just making up her Christmas list.  You can catch EvaMoon Ember (her Second Life alter ego) on December 19th  at Demo’s Wonderland for The Naughty and Nice Holiday Show.  More details to follow.  In the meantime you might need a cheat sheet to truly appreciate this song.

First and foremost, if you missed Bowie Bravin’s show at Demo’s Wonderland you really missed out on a spectacular event.  Bowie Bravin would still be a stand out performer if he presented himself as most Second Life performers do – an avatar standing on the stage with a set of animations.  His voice and his music are enough to sell  a performance.  But he and his amazing crew of dancers and manager, Chryblnd Scribe, pull out all the stops and make it a show, an experience.  Seek him out and see for yourself.  You won’t be disappointed.

Coming up at Demo’s Wonderland – Krakov Letov will be bringing his ambient electronica to our stage on Friday, November 26th at 11 am SLT.  We love having Krakov at Wonderland because not only does he make some amazing music,  it gives us a good reason to break out the particle effects.   Also we’re hoping to turn Wonderland into a Winter Wonderland, so come by and see what’s in the works.

On Sunday, November 28th, I’ll be playing a set at The Notes Shack Pub at 1 pm SLT.  I’ve been messing around with a looper and hope to debut at least one song using it, my bass and keys.  The tricky part?  Said looper is disassembled and lying on my kitchen table at the moment after the record trigger switch died.  Will I have it fixed in time?  Show up and find out.

Five Quick Questions with Bowie Bravin

Bowie Bravin is that rare Second Life performer who creates a true concert experience at each show. He starts with the basics: an amazing (and sexy) voice plus  music that flawlessy combines the glossy production of techno and dance with the raw emotions of alternative rock and punk.  From there he adds in back-up dancers, a custom-built stage and a spectacular light and particle show.  Along with the sound and vision comes the easy charisma of a seasoned performer  which draws the audience in and keeps everything connected.

 Demo’s Wonderland is pleased to present Bowie Bravin this Friday evening, November 12, at 8 pm SLT. 

Known in Second Life for his work with Deep Sky Traveler, and in the real word as  singer/songwriter Mark Moffre,  Bowie Bravin is a very busy guy, as you might guess.  He was kind enough to take the time to answer Five Quick Questions.

It is the supporters that is my favorite aspect.  To see them there supporting what I do is beyond words. I as well as my music has grown through them.

Ready! Ricochet’s Debut IRL

Where would my blog be without my friend Gina’s band, Ready! Ricochet?  Thanks to them I’ve  had adventures at a haunted hotel and hosted a worldwide premiere at my Second Life venue, Demo’s Wonderland.  So of course I was going to be there when they finally hit the stage in San Francisco. 

Crammed (yes crammed, the place was packed) up in the balcony of the Hotel Utah, video camera in hand, I watched an amazing set that  had raw energy but also  a polished sound.  The music felt fresh but remained accessible, showing influences from new wave, punk and progressive rock.   Dressed in Steampunk garb (just like their avatars, I must  point out), with video projected behind them on a large screen, they gave the impression of a post-apocalyptic orchestra providing the soundtrack to images foraged from a ruined past.

But don’t just take my word for it - see it for yourself.
